Continuing education is a priority for me, as evidenced by having earned the Accredited Buyer's Representative and the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designations. I am currently pursuing the Graduate REALTORS Institute (GRI) degree. I have averaged 28 hours of continuing education every year I've been in the business, in pursuit of knowledge which I can put to use for the benefit and advantage of my clients.
In addition, I bring to the table 14 years of practical business experience as the vice president of a manufacturing company, responsible primarily for product marketing and business management. Prior to that, I worked for 11 years in the casualty insurance business, first in an independent agency then as a claims adjuster and claims supervisor. I've also taught high school, both in Texas and South Dakota, and served as a marketing representative for a national auto rental business. Working well with the public and meeting customers' needs has been a continuing theme throughout my business history.
As a member of the Southern Black Hills Board of REALTORS, the South Dakota Association of REALTORS, and the National Association of REALTORS, I am a firm believer in the REALTOR's Code of Ethics. I've served as the Chair of the Membership Services Committee at both the local and state levels. In addition, I am currently working for my local association as Past President, State Director and am serving on the Government Affairs Committee at the state level. My biggest passion is as a founding member of the Southern Black Hills Association's REALTORS for Kids, where I am currently serving as RFK Request Chair. I believe that staying involved in my industry at the local and state levels has kept me on the cutting edge of new developments in real estate in South Dakota and the Black Hills.
Along those same lines, I serve on the Custer County Planning Commission. In this capacity, I am able to help plan for the expected future growth in population and business in Custer County.
All of this experience helps me to maintain an active working knowledge of the real estate market and to put that knowledge to work for my clients.
